Lisa Drakeford is a children’s tutor, and has also worked as a library assistant - which is when she became inspired by the brilliant young adult novels filling the shelves.

She started writing seriously for teenagers five years ago, and  won a place on the Writing East Midlands Mentoring Scheme. Her first book The Baby was published by Chicken House in 2015, and was nominated for the Carnegie Medal 2016.  Her second novel The Crash was published in 2017.

In her spare time she enjoys walking and cycling in muddy Leicestershire where she lives with her husband and two children
