Submission Guidelines

If you would like Johnson & Alcock to consider your work, please submit according to the following guidelines:

By email:

Please put your covering letter in the body of the email, and attach a synopsis and the first three chapters (approximately 50 pages) to the email. If your attachments are larger than 5MB they may be rejected by our server.

You should email your submission to the individual agent, on [agent's first name]@johnsonandalcock.co.uk. PLEASE NOTE: this is just the agent's first name, as displayed on their profile page. Do not include the surname in the email address.

Brief biogs and likes/dislikes are listed on each Agent's individual page, and we ask that you do not blind-copy or submit to multiple agents here. Please do not call in advance of emailing a submission.

Due to the high volume of email submissions we receive, we cannot guarantee a response to every email submission.

By post:

For both fiction and non-fiction, please send a covering letter, a synopsis, and the first three chapters (or approximately 50 pages) of your book.

All submissions should be single-sided, at least 1.5 line spaced, page-numbered and on A4 paper. Please remember to include contact details, and a stamped addressed envelope either for the return of the manuscript, or for our reply.

Due to the volume of material we receive, we cannot accept responsibility for any material sent in to us. If you do not supply an SAE with your initial submission the material will be recycled after a period of time.

In all cases we aim to respond within three months of submission, although it can take longer at busy times of year. If you haven't heard back after this time, please feel free to send a friendly chase to the agent in question.
