Anna Thomasson is one of the UK’s brightest young cultural historians.

After flirting with fashion and a stint in Paris, she studied for an MPhil in Biography under the exacting eye and inspiring guidance of historian and biographer Jane Ridley. Her thesis was shortlisted for the Daily Mail Biographers’ Club Prize, and this formed the backbone of her debut book, A Curious Friendship (Picador, 2015). Her most recent work, A Vast Horizon (Picador, 2026), explores the story of Pablo Picasso and his free-spirited friends, including Lee Miller and Man Ray, in the tumultuous years around the Second World War.

She lives and writes in London.
