Max Benitz was born in 1985.  As a teenager he had a leading role in Peter Weir’s Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.  After graduating he worked in a local media job in Kabul and then at the Royal United Services Institute where he focussed on the British Army’s role in Afghanistan.

Max is the author of Six Months Without Sundays: The Scots Guards in Afghanistan, an account of his time with the unit in the Helmand province as they embarked on a new policy of partnering Afghan forces.
