Lizzie Bickerstaff is a folklorist, writer, and keen rambler (in both senses of the word). Her popular Substack newsletter, Lurker, examines the political function of Britain’s rich body of folklore: who it serves, who it silences and how it has been used to define belonging, land and labour. She holds an MA in English Literature from the University of Bristol, where she focused on vernacular tradition. Lizzie is a vocal advocate for academic accessibility, the Right to Roam and the preservation of folk heritage. She has long been fascinated by Britain’s network of ancient footpaths and the various ghouls and goblins that haunt them. She is currently based in Surrey, UK.
