Anne O’Brien is an internationally published and bestselling author of historical fiction.
Her first novel was published in 2005, followed by nine other historical romances that range from the Regency period through to the medieval, the Civil War and Restoration. She has since developed an interest in the lives endured by the silent women of medieval history, full of treachery, ambition and heartbreak. She has written novels that give voice to subjects as diverse as Anne Neville, Elizabeth of Lancaster, Katherine de Valois, Joan of Kent and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Her latest novel, the first in a trilogy to be published by Orion in 2027, will pull back the veil on one of the most celebrated monarchs in English history, Queen Elizabeth I.
Born in West Yorkshire, Anne studied history at Manchester University with a BA Honours in History followed by a PGCA and then a Masters in Education at Hull. She went on to teach history for many years as Head of History and Head of Arts Faculty before she turned to writing fiction. She lives with her husband in an eighteenth-century timber-framed cottage in the depths of the Welsh Marches in Herefordshire.
