(C) MEDIATOR 452 LIMITED/BRITISH FILM INSTITUTE 2014

Mark Stay is a novelist and screenwriter. His first novel, The End of Magic was released by Unbound in 2019. He has followed this up with the Witches of Woodville series, published by Simon & Schuster.

He was co-writer of the film Robot Overlords, which was selected for the 58th BFI London Film Festival, and he wrote the novelisation which was published by Gollancz. His first script, Eddie's Dead, was chosen for the inaugural Film London Microwave scheme, and he was selected to join the prestigious Vipers Nest, a creative collective for commercial-orientated emerging filmmakers. His film, Unwelcome, was released by Warner Bros. in 2023

Mark got a part-time Christmas job at Waterstone’s in the nineties, and somehow ended up working in publishing for over 25 years. He would write in his spare time and (he can admit this now) on company time, and sometimes those writings would get turned into books and films.

Mark is also co-presenter of the Bestseller Experiment podcast, which has inspired writers all over the world to finish and publish their books. Born in London, he lives in Kent with his wife Claire Burgess and a declining assortment of retired chickens.
