Mike Carlson is a journalist, writer, poet and pundit, and widely recognised as the face of American Football on UK television.

He started as sports editor with UPITN, worked for ABC Sports and Major League Baseball, and then began his downward path as a journalist and broadcaster. He’s currently NFL analyst for Channel 4 and BBC TV, and does other American football for Eurosport.

He’s broadcast everything from lacrosse on Sky to pro wrestling on ITV, and commentated on basketball for the BBC during the 2012 Olympics.

Mike is a published poet, and has written books on film in the Pocket Essentials series. He appears regularly on BBC Radio 4 and the World Service, and contributes to the weekly sports podcast Americarnage. He also blogs at Irresistible Targets and for NFLUK, and tweets about life, sports and anything else that comes to mind at @Carlsonsports.

Originally from Connecticut, USA, he is serving life without parole in Britain and now lives in Surrey with his wife and son.
