Submission Guidelines

If you would like Johnson & Alcock to consider your work, please submit according to the following guidelines:

By email:

We accept email submissions, but the high volume we receive means we can only guarantee a response if we are interested in discussing representation.  Please attach a synopsis and the first three chapters (approximately 50 pages) to a covering email.

You can email your submission to the individual agent, on [firstname]@johnsonandalcock.co.uk.

Brief biogs and likes/dislikes are listed on each Agent's individual page, and we ask that you do not blind-copy or submit to multiple agents here. There is no need to call in advance of emailing a submission.

Please note we do not accept poetry, screenplays, children's books 0-7, and board or picture books.

By post:

For both fiction and non-fiction, please send a covering letter, a synopsis, and the first three chapters (or approximately 50 pages) of your book.

All submissions should be single-sided, at least 1.5 line spaced, page-numbered and on A4 paper. Please remember to include contact details, and a stamped addressed envelope either for the return of the manuscript, or for our reply.

Due to the volume of material we receive, we cannot accept responsibility for any material sent in to us. If you do not supply an SAE with your initial submission the material will be recycled.

In both cases we aim to respond within twelve weeks of submission, although it can take longer at busy times of year. If you haven't heard back after this time, please feel free to send a friendly chase to the agent in question.
